Dr. Salvatore D. DeSimone, D.O., is a dedicated and board-certified ophthalmologist renowned for his expertise in diagnosing and treating various eye diseases and conditions. Licensed to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Dr. DeSimone offers comprehensive eye care focusing on geriatric eye disease.
Dr. DeSimone's academic journey led him to St. Joseph’s University for his undergraduate studies, and he pursued his medical training at the prestigious Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His commitment to ophthalmology flourished during his residency at the Graduate Hospital/PCOM Consortium, where he served as Chief Resident.
With 18 years of private practice experience, Dr. DeSimone's impact extends beyond patient care. He actively participates in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, including those in the field of Ophthalmology. His dedication to education has earned him several Teacher of the Year awards.
Dr. DeSimone's passion for advancing eye care is reflected in his involvement as a clinical investigator in various eye-related medical studies. Outside of his profession, he enjoys sports, particularly baseball, traveling, and cherished family time. Yelena Doych, MD
Dr. Doych is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her clinical interests include complex cataract surgery and uveitis.
Dr. Doych received her B.A. degree from Goucher College in Towson, MD. After earning her M.D. degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Dr. Doych began her postgraduate training with an Internship in Preliminary Internal Medicine. She completed her residency training in Ophthalmology at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Doych functioned as the Residency Program Director within Drexel University College of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology since 2005. As a teaching faculty, she currently holds the title of an Assistant Professor. She is an active member of a number of professional organizations, including American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.
Throughout her training and work experience, Dr. Doych received a number of scholarships and awards. For example, she received the Intern of the Year award and was part of a team that won a major Blue Cross/Blue Shield grant to support investigation of an ophthalmic device. She also co-authored of a number of articles in current ophthalmic journals and edited sections in several ophthalmology review books and on-line publications.

David S. Rho, MD
Dr. Rho is a graduate of MIT and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After internship at Columbia, he completed his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He then completed two fellowships in vitreoretinal diseases at Loma Linda University School of Medicine near Los Angeles, and Harvard Medical School in Boston. At Loma Linda, he won the Award for Outstanding Teaching and Dedication. At Harvard, he presented and published several research studies of diabetic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases.
Dr. Rho is an Educational Counselor for MIT, as an interviewer for MIT undergraduate admissions. He is also a Reunion Class Officer and Member-at-Large for the MIT Class of 1985. He served as Chairman of the Education Committee for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). Dr. Rho currently serves as a Voluntary Editor for ARVO’s research journal, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
In 2015, Dr. Rho received President Obama’s Volunteer Service Award for his many years of service as a volunteer physician for EyeCare America, a philanthropy organization of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rho has received multiple patient awards during his career, including multiple Patient’s Choice Award and Top Doctor Awards. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rho has published numerous articles in major peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals, and he regularly presents his research at regional and national ophthalmology conferences.
In his free time, Dr. Rho enjoys playing his electric guitars, and he is now trying to learn bass guitar. Dr. Rho is an avid men’s league ice hockey player, and he has played ice hockey since childhood. He also enjoyed coaching his three children’s ice hockey and soccer travel and rec teams for several years.
